Plan International Hong Kong is committed to realising children’s rights as enshrined in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child – including the rights to protection and freedom from violence, abuse and exploitation. Also we acknowledge that we have a duty to promote gender responsive safeguarding of children and young people and particularly those with whom we work or are in contact.
With these two principles in mind, our Child Safeguarding Policy is in place to lay out guidelines and procedures for the protection of children and promotion of inclusion and equity through our work. We hold our responsibilities and duty seriously to ensure that we, as an organization, and anyone who represents us do not in any way harm, abuse or commit any act of violence against children and young people or place them at risk of the same. A designated Child Safeguarding Focal Point in our office coordinates the implementation of this policy.
Scope of Policy
All our employees and our associates, including board members, volunteers and partners, adhere to the Child Safeguarding Policy.
Code of Conduct
A set of behavioral guidelines for working with children are outlined in the Code of Conduct which all our employees are mandated to sign onto.
Reporting and responding
Our employees have a responsibility to consider and help minimize the child protection risks of all activities involving children. Therefore it is mandatory for all staff to report concerns and allegations of child abuse to the Child Safeguarding Focal Point or a Senior Manager. All concerns raised under our Child Safeguarding Policy will be dealt with promptly and will be treated seriously and sensitively.
